School Commercial Kitchen Installation
Mohammed Ameen, the School Catering Manager for Ling Bob School based in Halifax, contacted Hopkins regarding a complete refurbishment for the schools commercial kitchen. Skip Appleyard our projects manager attended site to complete a thorough site survey.
The school kitchen area had an average amount of space for Skip to work with and he designed the kitchen specification based on the amount of production the school kitchen required. Skip provided Mohammed with AutoCAD drawings of the proposed kitchen layout and specification. After stiff competition from 5 other competitors Hopkins commercial kitchen design was chosen as the best proposal.
Hopkins commercial kitchen department liaised with the building contractors during the extensive building work; walls, floors, ceiling, lights where all ripped out and re designed during the kitchen refit. The pictures below show the progress of how extensive the work was from the old narrow serving hatch to the new wide pass through with large serving area and modern catering equipment.
The commercial kitchen consisted of, under counter & upright refrigeration, pass through dishwasher, water boilers, heavy duty cooking equipment such as 6 burner gas ranges and 6 grid combi steamer. Heavy duty planetary mixer, waste disposal unit. Numerous amounts of fabrication such as stainless steel tabling, double bowl sink unit, shelving, wall cupboards, and dishwash tabling. Hopkins also supplied and installed a ventilation canopy and service spine within the commercial kitchen.
The kitchen works were undertaken through the summer holidays of 2010; the school kitchen was up and running for the children returning in September 2010.
